What do we have after the first round of the XVI Championship?

On the 23d of December took place the press-conference of “Cherkaski Mavpy”. The main participants were: Andriy Podkovyrov (main coach of “Cherkaski Mavpy”), Kyrylo Pogostinkyi (director of “Cherkasy-basket Ltd”), the players of “Cherkaski Mavpy” Arthur Johnson and Kyrylo Fesenko.    The results of the first round of the XVІ Ukrainian Championship were summed up. After the words of the min coach of “Mavpy” Andriy Podkovyrov, this championship became especially interesting because of the intensified teams in comparison with previous championships, and the games became strict. Cherkaser team took the second place after the results of the first round in the tournament table among the teams of super league.   “Cherkaski Mavpy”, except the matches for the first place on super league of Ukraine, became participant of the Euro Cup Challenge games, came to play-off games from the second place in their subgroup.   Andriy Podkovyrov noticed that the team had visible abatement, which became acute because of traumas of Rolandas Jarutis and Yurij Lokhmanchuk.   Andriy Podkovyrov: “The situation that we have with Jarutis is unexpected. He got trauma in the game with “Dnipro” and after that he played with broken cords. The trauma was more seriously that we thought. We hope that he’ll return to the team between the 1-15th of May. Concerning Yurij Lokhmanchuk, he’ll join the second round of the competitions nearly from February.” In spite of that “Mavpy” refused from the services of Charles Gosa. As Andriy Podkovyrov commented: “The rivals didn’t expect any threat from him on the playing court”. On that time the team needs another speed, other players.   On the places of Rolandas Jarutis and Charles Gosa two another legionnaires were invited to Cherkasy – American player Kaniel Dickens and Latvian Edmunds Valeiko. Andriy Podkovyrov informed that Dickens is invited before New Year holidays for appreciate his playing. After the match in Mykolajiv the coach remarked that the new player has high potential and kicked 3-pointers professionally and could play on the first position.   Kyrylo Fesenko, the young and effective centre player of “Cherkaski Mavpy” is distinguished with the bright slam-dank and block-shots as in the games of Ukrainian Championship also in the games of Euro Cup Challenge. As Kyrylo Fesenko told: “Every player has his dreams. I want to take part in draft in NBA.  But I want at the same time to play in “Mavpy”.   After the results of the previous month the best player among the teams of super league became the American legionnaire Arthur Johnson, who informed on the press-conference: “My furthest plans are to help “Mavpy” to be the champion”.
