Kaniel Dickens: «I don’t want to sit on the bench in NBA, I want to play basketball»

The main reason for coming to Ukraine was for Kaniel Dickens (new player of “Cherkaski Mavpy” was not money, but quantity of the playing time spent on the parquet for the team of prestigious level. It wasn’t simple for Dickens to get to that prestigious team. At first his flight to Ukraine was delayed for some days, and then, arrived to airport “Boryspil”, the American forward didn’t find his package. But these trifles don’t agitate Kaniel, he looks optimistic on cherkaser phase of continuing of his carrier.
– Kaniel, when did you get the suggestion from out club?
– Two-three weeks ago. I wasn’t surprised with the invitation from East Europe, because I played in many clubs of the whole world. I began my professional carrier in Russian “Ural-Great» seven years ago. I’m surprised not with the invitation, but of my returning to SNG.
– Why did you begin your carrier from Russia?
– It’s very simple – money. And this decision didn’t play positive role, now I think that it would be better to stay in NBA. May be I will be playing now in one of the best teams of America.
– Where did you play during last year in America?
– During last year I played in such teams as: «Favetteville patriots” and Los-angeles Klippers.
– Why did you have to say good-bye to the one of the strongest leagues of the world?
– I think NBA is very good but I want to play in the whole world, but only in America. I had many suggestions from the clubs that need my help. You know it’s difficult to realize in NBA as player, the opportunities and talant go to the second place. I don’t want to sit on the bench in NBA, I want to play basketball.
– You know that some American stars leaves Ukrainian super league. Tell us please, are you afraid of the thirteen number that you got.
– I am afraid of anything.
– Did you find common language only with Arthur or with all players?
– I can have friendly relations with anybody. Some people that come to America want to live everywhere as in America: to eat in MC Donald’s, to sing American songs. I come to the country, want to see its culture, to eat the same that you eat, and to dance as you dance….
– Did you eat Ukrainian dishes? – Yes! I like Ukrainian dishes, especially I like borsh.
