Andriy Podkovyrov: «If we want to win Euro Cup Challenge, we musn’t worry about the team-rival in the next round»

One of the pair of 1/4 of Euro Cup Challenge will be fully Ukrainian. Such combination of events became really after the last tour in Group “C”. In the match of leaders was fixed the rival – “Dnipro” from Dnipropetrovsk. «Mavpy» is probably tired from the long journeys, that’s why the next voyage of Euro Cup Challenge will be only 300 km away from home. The matches of the quarterfinal take place on the 11th and 18th of January.
Could Cherkaser avoid the meeting with “Dnipro”? Of course, it’s possible to win every match. The teams has not the complement of team equal value. “Mavpy” had only two guards Lebediev and Butskyy. The last should run the whole 40 minutes of the game time. The situation was worse with the fast fouls of Lebediev. Plus not impressive actions of the universal players (Gosa, Umbrasko) and we see the factors of the defeat. This match was for Gosa the last in the complement of “Cherkaski Mavpy”. As Andriy Podkovyrov told, Gosa doesn’t show the level that it’s expected from the American legionnaire.
One of the most long-term Russian players Nikita Shabalkin showed the impressive result – 28 points and 8 picking up. Among cherkaser the worth answer gave Arnas Kazlauskas with 23 points, 3 picking up and 1 block shot.

«Today we couldn’t go out from the hard situation, which is in the complement of the team. We lost the main play maker Rolandas Jarutis, we lost not only him, but a lot of playing schemes. The home game is the home game. This factor for Samarer is also important. Concerning our rival for the quarter final, I’ll say the following: if we want to win Euro Cup Challenge we musn’t think about the opponent in the next round. And I don’t see the especial difference, on what level we’ll meet with “Dnipro”.
- We know about the results of the last tour of Group “D” – told the coach of team from Samara Valeriy Tyhonenko after press conference. – But we didn’t choose the rival, we played for victory. I’m glad that we won in our group of Euro Cup Challenge.
