Bright response from “Cherkaski Mavpy” to Cyprian “Apoel”

      The game started equal for the both teams and the half of the first quarter the rivals exchanged with the effective attacks.  But already in the second half of the quarter the home team began to expend the difference. The best did the captain of “Cherkaski Mavpy” Rolandas Jarutis, who scored 14 points thanks to the 100% realization of the shoots, two-pointers and three-pointers, and also did his best in shooting of the penalties. The team’s score at the end of the quarter was 31:19.
     In the second quarter the tendency in expending of the score was hold. First of all the visitors acted more aggressive, so that’s why they did many mistakes. Then, instead of great slam dunks by Loren Stokes and bright individual game of Wheeler Tyson, the opponents still had turnovers. The Ukrainians showed good team game. This was the advantage of the centre John Edwards, who became the third high scorer in “Cherkaski Mavpy”. As a result 56:35.
      In the second half of the game “Cherkaski Mavpy” finally proved their advantage and didn’t let the rival in making the difference shorter than for 20 points.
      The last minute of the match Cyprian number 12 Grigoris Pantouris passed two attacks successful and awoke the doubt in further participating of Cherkasy in Euro Cup. Jarutis became real hero, who supported team scoring three-pointer with signal. So came to overtime with the score 88:72.
      Additional time was for the both teams really hard, each scored ball was really of great importance. 14 seconds before the finish Fadi El Khatib scored 2 penalties, what brought Ukrainians ahead with 100 points. So, as a result 104:83.
As the head coach of “Cherkaski Mavpy” Andrey Podkovyrov commented: “Today the captain of the team Rolandas Jarutis played good game, which was expected from him. Also I’m satisfied with the game of our new centre John Edwards. But I don’t wait from him more than 30 points per game; he still have to play safe in offense. And then let them try to score from the three-second zone.”
As the head coach of “Apoel” Kyriakos Yiangoulis told: “The interest of Ukrainians is clear for me concerning today’s game of our player Balsa Radunovic, as he is the only one, who had experience in performing for “Cherkaski Mavpy”. I mean, he is a good player, but unfortunately he didn’t make his best for 100% today.
